Introduced with Windows Server 2003 and supported beginning with Exchange Server 2003, the Volume Shadow Copy Service introduces a new way to take backups of Exchange storage groups (and everything else on a server). In this session, we cover how VSS works and how VSS and Exchange work together. We also will discuss the tools available in Windows Server 2003 and in Windows Server 2008 to take VSS Backups, including Exchange Server backups; and how to script these tools.
